ContractorApp Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies specifically to ContractorApp, our field service management application. It supplements our general Privacy Policy.

1. App Overview

ContractorApp is a field-service business operating system that helps contractors manage jobs, clients, estimates, invoices, and workforce coordination. The app is designed with offline-first functionality and privacy in mind.

2. Account Information

To use ContractorApp, you must create an account. We collect:

  • Email address - Used for login and notifications
  • Name - Your first and last name for identification within your company
  • Phone number (optional) - For SMS notifications and features
  • Company information - Business name and details when creating or joining a company

3. Business Data You Create

You create and control all business data in ContractorApp, including:

  • Client information - Names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses
  • Job details - Job descriptions, addresses, status, notes
  • Financial records - Estimates, invoices, line items, payment records
  • Staff assignments - Which staff members are assigned to which jobs
  • Schedules - Appointment times and calendar data
  • Materials - Your materials catalog and pricing

Important: This data is stored securely on our servers and is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted to authorized personnel only for support and maintenance purposes.

4. Multi-Tenant Data Isolation

ContractorApp uses a multi-tenant architecture. Each company's data is logically isolated from other companies. Staff members can only access data belonging to their company, and their access level is determined by their role (Owner, Manager, or Tech).

Owner Full access to all company data, billing, and settings
Manager Access to clients, jobs, invoices, estimates, and staff schedules
Tech Limited to their own assigned jobs; cannot view other techs' data or company-wide reports

6. Offline Functionality

ContractorApp is designed to work offline. When you create or modify data without an internet connection, changes are stored locally on your device and synchronized with our servers when connectivity is restored.

Offline data is stored in an encrypted local database on your device. We cannot access this data until it is synchronized.

7. SMS Notifications

If you enable SMS features, ContractorApp may send text messages to:

  • Your clients (e.g., "Technician is on the way")
  • Your staff members (e.g., job assignment notifications)

Message content is limited to necessary business information. Phone numbers are used only for these notifications and are not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

8. Third-Party Services

ContractorApp integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Payment Processing (Stripe) - If you use payment features, Stripe processes payment information. We do not store full credit card numbers.
  • SMS Services (Twilio) - For sending SMS notifications
  • Cloud Hosting - Application and data hosting (details available upon request)

9. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion:

  • All personal data is deleted within 30 days
  • Business data (clients, jobs, invoices) is deleted within 30 days
  • Aggregated, anonymized statistics may be retained for service improvement

10. Data Export

You can export your data at any time. Contact support or use the export feature within the app to receive a complete copy of your data in a standard format.

11. Security Measures

  • All data transmission uses TLS 1.2+ encryption
  • Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256
  • Passwords are hashed using bcrypt
  • JWT tokens are used for authentication
  • Regular security audits are performed
